First impressions

I took one pencil and a pocket notebook on the walk. The limit was useful: no palette to organize, no perfect view to search for. At the first bench I drew the outline of a leaf still attached to its branch.

Notes from the process

Back at the table, the drawing contained less information than a photograph but more evidence of what had held my attention. One bend in the stem was exaggerated. One cluster of leaves had vanished entirely. Those omissions were interesting.

The next page

The digital notebook image here is an original placeholder. A real sketchbook scan can replace it later, with the date and materials in the caption. For now the page demonstrates how a short process entry can sit beside a large image.
